Oatmeal Apple Bars
INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/2 cups of almond milk
- 1 teaspoon almond flavoring
- 3 Tablespoons of water
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 cup of diced apples (about 3 apples)
- 2 cups regular oats
- 1 Tablespoon ground flaxseed
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup walnuts
DIRECTIONS
You’ll need a 9″ x 9″ square pan.
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Dice the apples (keep the bits small).
In a big bowl, mix up the almond milk, almond flavoring, water and honey. Add in the diced apple pieces. Add in the cinnamon and stir. Then add in the oats, ground flaxseed and the walnuts. Mix well. If you’ve got a non-stick 9″ x 9″ pan you won’t have to grease it. If you don’t, add a little oil and spread that around the bottom and sides of the pan with a paper towel.
Put the batter into the pan, spreading it evenly on the bottom with a spatula.
Bake for about 45 minutes. Around the 40 minute mark, check by inserting a knife in the middle. If it comes out clean, they’re done. If not, leave it in for the extra 5 minutes and test again. Once done, set on a cooling rack. Then cut into bars the size you want.
These will keep in the fridge in an airtight container for about 5 days or you can freeze them. Thaw in the fridge or microwave for about 30 seconds.
